Glenwood Academy aims to empower ADHD students with language-based learning disabilities such as dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyslexia, and language processing difficulties. Through a multisensory, developmental, language-intensive curriculum, we work towards helping all of our students discover his or her individual potential for greatness.
How does Glenwood Academy Accomplish this Mission?
Hands-on learning is the most powerful learning tool. We encourage student participation by ensuring small class sizes of no more than 8 students per class.
Our teachers utilize a research-based, multisensory curriculum. Teachers must be trained in the Orton-Gillingham Plus Reading Approach by Fran Bowman; Visualizing and Verbalizing by Nancy Bell, and The Language Circle/Project Read Written Expression curriculum called “Framing Your Thoughts”.
We provide an “Active Learning” environment to enhance students’ academic abilities and see to it that no child falls behind.
Our project-focused curriculum teaches students to use critical thinking, applying the lessons they’ve learned in class to real-world problems.
Our custom-designed curriculum integrates academic rigor with cutting-edge technologies.
We offer additional instruction with private specialists who integrate the skills taught within the classroom setting to reinforce essential lessons. Our specialists work directly with the classroom teachers to provide the best language intensive education possible.
